About Our Masters Class
The topics for Winter session is Secret Shortcuts to Learning Essential Endgames. This is a 6-week session, running from January 7 – February 11. Classes are at 5:00-6:00PM on Zoom. HRSCC students will join as a group. All others can access from home or mobile.
**Please note that our Parent/Player Portal does not allow us to customize class dates. Any changes to the schedule will be posted on our website alerts page and in our weekly newsletter.
About Our Coach
Our Master Classes are taught via Zoom by National Master Daniel Miller, six-time Virginia State Champion and reigning Virginia State Senior Champion.
Who Can Participate?
HRCA Master Classes are designed for students rated 1200-2000. Lower rated students may be admitted by exception. This class is also open to both youth and adults. It is also open to students who reside outside of Hampton Roads!
New for Winter 2025, HRSCC Students in the Megalodons and Mosasaurs Classes will be enrolled in Masters Class at no additional cost as part of their HRSCC tuition!
Class Location
This class is offered via ZOOM ONLY. Enrolled students will receive a link, meeting ID, and passcode to access class. Classes are recorded for those who miss a session.
Tuition and Fees
This class is $97.50 + $25 non-refundable Annual Registration Fee for new students/non-members. If there are spots available, Masters Class may be open to new students mid-session, but tuition will not be prorated. All missed sessions are available for replay.
Full session tuition is due on January 1st, and will be charged automatically to the payment method on file. If Financial Aid or monthly payment plan is needed, please use our Financial Aid application to request scholarship assistance prior to December 20th. Payment plans can be requested through December 30th, and will be two monthly installments of $48.75, billed on January 1 and February 1.
Annual Registration Fee, if required, is non-refundable and will be charged within 72 hours of enrollment to hold your spot. Annual Registration for youth includes student HRCA membership valid through 8/31 and a ChessKid Gold subscription. Registration for Adults includes a regular HRCA membership, valid for 1 calendar year and gives unlimited casual play at both HRCC and PSCC. Current HRCA members do NOT need to pay the registration fee unless their membership expires during the class session.
Masters Class is an HRCA Core Program. Families with 3 or more siblings in our core chess programs are eligible for multi-sibling discounts and a family cap of $225/month. Scholarship families will only be charged for their Annual Registration Fee and co-pay amount. Please refer to HRCA’s Billing and Payment Policy for more info, including refund processes.
The deadline for Winter session scholarship applications is December 20th.
Masters Class may be open for new students mid-session, but will not be prorated. All missed sessions are available for replay.
