Friday Homeschool Chess Club
HRCA welcomes homeschooling families from across Hampton Roads. Many of our staff are experienced homeschoolers, so we understand the importance of quality instruction, community, and affordability.
Join a certified HRCA chess coach for instruction based on your student’s level, along with casual play each week. Equipment is provided!
Open to homeschoolers ages 6 through teens. No previous chess experience is necessary—come learn with us.

HRCA Membership is now separate from class enrollment. Optional HRCA membership provides access to members-only benefits, including the Scholastic Cup, early bird discounts, HRCA Library, and scholarship eligibility. Bring Chess to Your Homeschool Co-Op
Looking to add chess to your co-op or microschool’s offerings? You can have your very own chess team! HRCA can provide professional instruction and supervise casual play clubs.
Our coaches are certified, trained, and background checked. As a US Chess affiliate, HRCA brings experienced chess instruction to your homeschool community.
Payment & Enrollment Policies
Autopay & Registration Fees
HRCA requires autopay for tuition and registration fees. The nonrefundable $20 registration fee per student is charged to the payment method on file within 72 hours of enrollment, unless already paid through the Parent/Student Portal.
There are no refunds once payment is processed. No sibling discounts are available.
Financial Assistance & Payment Plans
If you need financial assistance or a monthly tuition payment plan, complete the Financial Assistance Application .
For scholarship applicants, tuition is not charged until the application is processed and any co-pay is determined. Scholarship families are charged their registration fee and approved co-pay amount.
Withdrawals & Refunds
To withdraw, email hrca@hrchessclub.org or submit a Drop Request in your Parent Portal by the 15th of the month for the following month. Verbal withdrawal notices are not accepted.
If you are on a payment plan and do not submit notice by the deadline, your account will be charged for the following month. There are no refunds once payments are processed, for missed sessions, or for failure to notify HRCA.
Enrollment is subject to HRCA’s Policies , including the Code of Conduct, Financial Policies, and Youth Protection Protocols.
