India Fest Chess Championship 2019

AIHR and HRCA are partnering again this year to run a chess competition in conjunction with India Fest 2019.
This event is FREE to enter.
The competition will take place November 2nd, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hindu Temple of Hampton Roads, 217 Sampson Creek Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
There are four sections available for children of all ages and abilities.
Junior Rookie (students in grades Pre-K through 5 with limited or no experience at chess tournaments, no US Chess Federation membership required)
Senior Rookie (students in grades 6-12 with limited or no experience at chess tournaments, no US Chess Federation membership required)
Novice (students in grades Pre-K through 12 with US Chess Federation memberships and ratings below 600)
Elite (students in grades Pre-K through 12 with US Chess Federation memberships and ratings 600 and up)
Trophies will be awarded to the top three players in each of these four sections.  Trophies will be presented at India Fest on November 23, 2019.  All other players will receive participation ribbons the day of the competition.

Schedule:
8-9 AM Check-in and late registration
9-9:15 AM New player orientation (going over the rules and procedures for the beginners)
9:30-10:10 AM Round 1
10:20-11:00 AM Round 2
11:00-11:40 AM Round 3
11:40-Noon Brief Lunch Break
Noon – 12:40 PM Round 4
The time control for the games is G/20; d3.  This means that each player has 20 minutes to make all their moves, and if a move is made in less than 3 seconds, no time is deducted from the clock.  For rated players (Novice and Elite sections), this event is Quick rated only.
Boards, sets, some clocks, and scoresheets are provided.  Bring a chess clock if you own one.  Bring something to write with.  Parents, bring a camp chair if you are remaining on site.
